I’d seen this book mentioned so many times over the past month or so and I just knew I had to pick it up. I mean…pirates. Theres not much else to be said really. I was expecting to like this book because I’d seen such great reviews and I was not let down.

My Review

I’ve had my eye on this book for a while. Last month I saw so many reviews on it and it just sounded amazing. Plus it’s been a long time since I read anything about pirates. There should definitely be more books about them. Anyway, I have to say I really enjoyed this book. 

 

Looking back now I can’t say it was impacting on my life or a really important book to read, but it was just fun. I flew through it and I loved how the story progressed. I have to say though, that my favourite thing about this book is the main character Alosa. She’s just the sassiest little pirate princess ever. Throughout the book we see how women are treated by the male pirates (and it’s pretty awful) but Alosa isn’t having any of that. She constantly takes men down proving she is just as good (actually better) than them. 

 

On another note. Riden. I love him. It’s so rare for me to really like a love interest in YA books, normally I just don’t feel the chemistry. I loved this one though. I really appreciated that he wasn’t just perfect, he had a constant struggle between his feelings for Alosa and his loyalty to his brother. But overall he was a good egg. Not to mention the banter between Alosa and Riden was hilarious, I really enjoyed reading their conversations. 

There is a little plot twist in there that I did see coming but, the fact that I guessed it didn’t ruin this book for me at all. I honestly loved this book. It was such an easy fun read and I can’t wait for the second one. I don’t know why there aren’t more books about pirates about because it was so exciting!
